Editorial Guidelines
Editorial Guidelines
Last updated: May 12, 2026
InjuryBurnLawyer.com is a compiled directory, not an editorial publication. These guidelines document the rules an editor follows when reviewing listings, handling claims and removals, and publishing legal-information content. They exist so anyone — a listed attorney, a survivor, a regulator, a journalist — can audit what we do and why.
Sourcing standards
Every attorney listing originates from one or more of the following primary sources:
- State bar registries. The originating state bar’s attorney search is the canonical source for bar number, status, and admission date. The full list of registries we cross-reference is on the methodology page.
- Public court records. Where verdicts, settlements, or case outcomes are referenced, we cite the originating court record. We do not accept marketing copy as a citation.
- Firm-published information.Office address, phone, website, practice areas, and biographical content come from the firm’s own website. Where there is a conflict between firm-published content and a primary-source registry, the registry wins.
We do not scrape third-party reviews (Google, Yelp, Avvo, etc.), and we do not republish content from competing legal directories.
Verification cadence
Listings are re-verified against primary sources under three triggers:
- On claim. When an attorney submits a claim via the claim flow, the editor cross-references the firm’s information against the originating state bar registry before approving the claim.
- On removal request or correction. When a listing is flagged via the removal page, the editor re-verifies within five business days and either corrects, removes, or responds with the source supporting the listed information.
- On scheduled review. The full directory is re-cross-checked against state bar registries on a rolling schedule. Listings where the bar status has lapsed are removed.
Conflict-of-interest policy
The editor does not accept payment, gift, or any other consideration from a listed attorney in exchange for inclusion in the directory, placement on the directory, or favorable treatment in editorial content. Featured placement is available as a paid upgrade at a published price; Featured placement does not change the underlying compiled information about that attorney, is visually labeled, and does not influence the quality tier.
Where the editor has a personal or prior professional relationship with a listed attorney, that relationship is disclosed inline on the listing. The editor does not refer cases to listed attorneys, does not receive lead-generation revenue from any source, and does not hold equity in any listed firm.
Legal-information content
Where this site presents legal information — statutes of limitations, damage caps, comparative-fault rules, settlement-range examples — the following rules apply:
- State law is quoted verbatim from the official state legislature source and linked back to that source.
- Statutory references include the citation (e.g., “Tex. Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code § 16.003”), not paraphrased summaries.
- Settlement and verdict figures cite the originating court record, news report, or firm-published case result.
- Where information is approximate or generalizes across jurisdictions, that is stated explicitly.
- We do not give legal advice. Every piece of legal content carries the disclaimer that the reader should consult a licensed attorney in their jurisdiction.
Corrections and updates
When a correction is needed, we update the affected page and append a brief “Last updated” date. Material corrections to legal-information content (statute change, statutory citation correction, factual error) carry a short correction note at the bottom of the page documenting what changed and when. Corrections to a single attorney’s listing are made silently when the change is administrative (address, phone, photo); we do not maintain a public revision history of individual listings.
To report an error, email hello@injuryburnlawyer.com with the URL of the page and a brief description of the error.
Independence statement
InjuryBurnLawyer.com is operated independently. It is not affiliated with any law firm, lawyer referral service, bar association, advocacy organization, or legal marketing network. The only revenue source is the optional Featured placement subscription paid by individual claimed listings; there is no advertising, no pay-per-lead arrangement, no referral fee, and no sponsored content.
Attorney advertising disclosure

The information on this site is for general informational purposes only and is not legal advice. Listings on this directory do not constitute an attorney-client relationship, an endorsement, or a recommendation by InjuryBurnLawyer.com.
